Luxury hotels often promise memorable experiences beyond just a comfortable room. Hotel Irada, part of Marriott's Design Hotels collection, certainly looks the part. Built on the historic estate of Vijay Mallya's former country manor within the Four Seasons Winery estate near Baramati, the property blends heritage architecture with modern design and vineyard surroundings.
With room rates regularly crossing ₹30,000-35,000 per night, expectations are naturally high.
We recently spent two nights here, redeeming 47,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, to see if the experience justified the premium price.
The short answer?
The rooms, food and hospitality are excellent. The amenities, views and overall resort experience, however, felt fairly average for the asking price.
Location
Hotel Irada is located in Roti village near Baramati (Taluka Daund), Maharashtra, around a working winery surrounded by vineyards and open countryside.
Distance by road:
Pune: ~75 km (around 1.5-2 hours)
Mumbai: ~230 km (around 5-6 hours)

t's an easy weekend drive from Pune and a comfortable escape from city life. The surroundings are peaceful, with vineyards and open green spaces offering a relaxing change of pace from the city.
Arrival & Check-in
Our experience started on a very positive note.
Craig, the hotel manager, called us on the morning of our arrival to understand our travel plans and ensure everything was ready before we reached.
On arrival, the entire team was lined up to welcome guests. We were offered welcome drinks while completing the check-in formalities, and the process itself was smooth and efficient.
Being Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members, we were upgraded from the base Reserve Room to the Gallery Room, which turned out to be the highlight of our stay.
Throughout our visit, every member of the staff was warm, courteous and genuinely eager to help. Hospitality is undoubtedly one of Hotel Irada's strongest points.
The reception area is elegant and well designed without being overly extravagant. Large windows overlook the property and bring in plenty of natural light. It's a pleasant first impression, though nothing particularly memorable.
Rooms: The Highlight of Hotel Irada
The Gallery Room alone is worth talking about.
It's spacious, thoughtfully designed and feels luxurious without trying too hard. The hotel's signature burgundy bathtub immediately stands out and gives the room a distinct character.
There's also a private sit-out overlooking the gallery, making it a lovely spot for your morning coffee or an evening drink.
The bathroom is modern, the furnishings are premium, and every corner of the room feels carefully designed.
If you're planning a stay here, I'd highly recommend booking the Gallery Room, or hoping for an upgrade if you're a Marriott Bonvoy elite member.
Food
Food was another standout throughout our stay.
Rosso
Rosso is Hotel Irada's signature Italian restaurant and was easily our favourite dining experience during the stay.
The restaurant itself is stunning. In 2026, Rosso was named one of the World's Most Beautiful Restaurants by Prix Versailles, Paris, making it the only Indian restaurant to feature on the prestigious global design list. It's easy to see why. The architecture, interiors and attention to detail create a space that feels elegant without being overdone.
The food lives up to the setting. Every dish we ordered was well prepared, beautifully presented and full of flavour. If you're visiting Hotel Irada, Rosso alone is worth making a reservation for.
I would also recommend trying Ode to Irada, the property's signature wine. It pairs beautifully with the menu and is a great way to experience the winery's own label while you're there.
Irada Pool Club
Located beside the rooftop pool, the Irada Pool Club offers a much more relaxed atmosphere. It's a great place for a leisurely lunch, evening snacks or drinks while spending time by the pool.
As the day winds down, the hotel hosts a complimentary Sundowner here, serving mocktails and light evening snacks. With the pleasant weather, open-air seating and the sun setting over the vineyards, it's one of the nicest ways to spend your evening at the property. While the views aren't extraordinary, the overall ambience makes for a relaxing end to the day.
Overall, the food across both restaurants exceeded our expectations and was easily one of the biggest highlights of the stay
Amenities
This is where my opinion becomes slightly mixed.
The property has a rooftop swimming pool, outdoor seating areas and the Irada Pool Club. While the space is pleasant, the pool itself is quite small.
A separate activity tower houses the gym, kids' play area and viewing deck.
The gym has all the essentials but isn't particularly impressive, and most of the facilities felt fairly basic for a hotel positioned in this price segment. Nothing is bad—but nothing really stands out either.
Spa & Wellness
The wellness centre includes a spa, steam room, sauna and a hot plunge pool.
The steam room, sauna and hot plunge pool are complimentary for all guests, with no additional usage charges.
The spa treatments are also reasonably priced, making them worth considering if you're looking to unwind during your stay. The facilities are clean, well maintained and provide a relaxing break after the drive.

Hotel Irada offers a surprisingly long list of experiences, with both complimentary and paid options.

While the hotel offers a good mix of activities, none of them felt compelling enough to make the stay feel packed with experiences. Many of the more unique activities are chargeable, and even those didn't particularly tempt us.
That said, one activity I genuinely enjoyed was cycling around the estate early in the morning. Riding through the vineyards in the cool monsoon weather was peaceful and easily one of the more memorable parts of the stay.
Overall, I still feel one night is sufficient to experience the best of Hotel Irada. Unless you're specifically planning to book multiple paid experiences, there isn't enough to justify a longer stay.
The Property
Hotel Irada is spread across expansive lawns, vineyards and open green spaces, giving it a calm and uncrowded atmosphere. It's the kind of property where you can slow down, take a leisurely walk around the estate or simply sit outdoors and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
The landscaping is well maintained, and the hotel's distinctive architecture stands out beautifully against the greenery. During golden hour, the warm evening light falls on the building, making it one of the best times to explore the property or capture a few photographs.
The property also has a helipad, which offers one of the better vantage points within the estate. You get uninterrupted views of the vineyards and surrounding countryside, especially around sunset.
While the setting is peaceful and relaxing, I wouldn't call the views a major highlight. They're pleasant enough to complement the stay, but not something I'd visit the property specifically for. The overall ambience and sense of calm leave a much stronger impression than the scenery itself.
Value for Money
This is where Hotel Irada loses the most points for me.
At ₹30,000-35,000+ per night, I expected a much more complete luxury resort experience.
Instead, what you get is an exceptional room, genuinely good food and warm hospitality. Beyond that, the amenities, views and overall resort experience feel fairly average for a property at this price point.
By the end of our first day, we felt we had experienced most of what the property had to offer. While there are several activities available, none of them really made us want to extend our stay.
Even though we redeemed 47,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for two nights, I don't think this was a particularly great use of points either. Looking back, one night would have been enough to enjoy the room, the food and the overall experience.
My recommendation would be to book just one night and, if possible, request a late checkout. If you have Marriott Bonvoy elite status, use your late checkout benefit. Otherwise, it's worth politely requesting one at the hotel. That gives you enough time to enjoy everything Hotel Irada does best without paying for an extra night that, in my opinion, doesn't add much value.
Final Verdict
Hotel Irada is a property where the rooms, food and hospitality are significantly better than the overall resort experience.
The Gallery Room is one of the finest boutique hotel rooms I've stayed in, Rosso serves excellent food, and the warmth and attentiveness of the staff genuinely elevate the stay. Those three aspects are what make Hotel Irada memorable.
Where the property falls short is in its overall value proposition. The amenities are fairly basic for the price, the views are pleasant but not exceptional, and despite offering a variety of activities, nothing really stood out enough to justify spending multiple nights here.
If room rates were lower, I'd have rated the property much higher. However, at ₹30,000-35,000+ per night, I expected a more complete luxury resort experience.
We redeemed 47,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for two nights. While that may look like an excellent redemption on paper, I personally wouldn't value this redemption at more than ₹0.60-0.70 per Marriott Bonvoy point, simply because I don't think the overall experience justifies a higher valuation. Looking purely at the cash price can be misleading. What ultimately matters is what the stay is actually worth to you.
If I were to visit again, I'd book just one night, enjoy the room, food and hospitality, and request a late checkout if possible.
