Bengaluru Airport’s Domestic Terminal 1 has multiple lounge options, but there’s one that many flyers seem to miss: the 080 VIP Lounge.
I visited before a domestic flight and, compared with the usual crowded airport lounge experience, this felt noticeably different. The interiors are more premium, the space was calm during my visit, and instead of a typical buffet, food was served from an à la carte menu.
I entered using my ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal credit card. The card was scanned at reception and the entry process was straightforward.
If your card gives you access, this is definitely a lounge worth knowing about at Bengaluru T1.
Where is the 080 VIP Lounge in Bengaluru T1?
The lounge is located airside in Terminal 1, so you need to clear security first.
It is on Level 2, above Swarovski and opposite Fossil. Look for the escalator near these stores and head upstairs. A lift is also available nearby.
This is important because Bengaluru T1 has multiple lounges with similar 080 branding.
If you specifically want the VIP Lounge, don’t just follow the first lounge sign you see.
First impression
The first thing that stood out was that this didn’t feel like a generic airport lounge filled with rows of chairs.
The interiors have a clear Bengaluru influence, with marble flooring, indoor plants, patterned seating and leaf-inspired partitions.
There’s even a framed photograph of the Lalbagh Glass House, which is a nice local touch.
A large chandelier acts as the visual centrepiece, while the departures board remains visible nearby.
But what I appreciated most was the atmosphere.
During my visit, the lounge was calm and quiet.
There were plenty of comfortable corners where you could sit without the constant announcements, movement and noise of the main terminal.
Of course, airport lounges can change completely depending on the time of day, so I wouldn’t assume it will always be this peaceful during peak hours.
Food: À la carte instead of a buffet
This was easily one of the best parts of the lounge.
Instead of the usual airport lounge buffet, food was ordered from an à la carte menu.
During my visit, I tried:
Dim sum
Fries
Pasta
A mocktail
Dessert
The dim sum was the standout.
It arrived well presented and felt more like something you would order at a café or restaurant than typical airport lounge food.
The pasta was filling, while the fries and mocktail worked well as lighter options.
And then came dessert, which I absolutely did not need but obviously had anyway.
The advantage of made-to-order food is that it arrives fresher than dishes that may have been sitting at a buffet for a while.
There is one trade-off though: time.
If your flight is boarding soon, à la carte dining isn’t as convenient as quickly grabbing something from a buffet.
I’d recommend keeping at least 30 to 45 minutes in hand if you actually want to sit down and eat here.
Also, check with the staff before ordering if you’re unsure about what is included with your lounge access. Complimentary inclusions can vary depending on the access programme or card being used.
Entry experience
Entry was simple during my visit.
I presented my ICICI Emeralde Private Metal credit card at the reception desk, the card was scanned, and that was it.
Keep your eligible physical card and boarding pass ready when entering.
Since lounge-access rules change regularly, I would still check your bank’s latest lounge-access information before travelling rather than assuming that a card which worked previously will continue to work.
Which cards give access to the 080 VIP Lounge?
Cards such as the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal, ICICI Times Black, Bank of Baroda Eterna and HSBC Premier are among the premium cards that may offer access to the 080 VIP Lounge at Bengaluru T1. I personally used the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal during my visit.
That said, this is where I’d be careful. Bengaluru T1 has multiple lounges with very similar names, and bank lounge lists do not always make it obvious which particular 080 Lounge they are referring to.
So even if your card shows access to an “080 Lounge Bengaluru T1”, don’t assume it means the VIP Lounge. Check the latest lounge list for your card and match the exact lounge name and location before travelling.
If your card isn’t mentioned above, check the current lounge access list from your bank or card issuer, as eligible cards can change from time to time
The biggest advantage: it doesn’t feel like a typical lounge
Airport lounges have become increasingly crowded over the last few years.
Sometimes you enter a lounge to escape the terminal only to find an even busier room inside.
That wasn’t my experience here.
The combination of the interiors, quieter atmosphere and made-to-order food made the 080 VIP Lounge feel more premium than the average domestic airport lounge.
This is the kind of lounge where I’d actually arrive a little earlier rather than just rush in for ten minutes before boarding.
What could be better?
The à la carte dining is both a strength and a limitation.
I much prefer freshly prepared food to a standard buffet, but it does mean you need enough time before your flight.
If you’re entering just before boarding, you probably won’t get the full benefit of the lounge.
The other issue is finding the right lounge in the first place.
With multiple lounges using similar 080 branding at Bengaluru Airport, it can get confusing very quickly.
This is especially important when checking credit-card lounge lists, as a generic T1 lounge listing may not necessarily refer to the VIP Lounge.
Verdict
The 080 VIP Lounge at Bengaluru Terminal 1 Domestic is one of those airport lounges I suspect many eligible travellers simply don’t know about.
The interiors feel more premium than a typical domestic lounge, it was peaceful during my visit, and the à la carte dining was a welcome change from the usual buffet.
The dim sum was easily my favourite item.
If your card gets you access, I’d choose this as a place to actually sit down, eat and spend some time before your flight rather than treating it as a quick pit stop.
Just arrive early enough to enjoy it.
And most importantly, check that your specific card provides access to the VIP Lounge, not just another 080 Lounge in Bengaluru T1.
