Jupiter Edge+ Devalued: 50% Shopping Jewels Now Need ₹15,000 of Cycle Spend

Jupiter Edge+ Devalued: 50% Shopping Jewels Now Need ₹15,000 of Cycle Spend

Jupiter is adding a statement-cycle spending condition to the biggest benefit on the Edge+ CSB Bank RuPay Credit Card.

From 10 October 2026, cardholders will receive the full 50% Jewels offered on eligible purchases at Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and other listed retailers only when their total qualified spends for the statement cycle are greater than ₹15,000. If they fail to cross that mark, those Shopping transactions will earn only 5% Jewels, the same headline rate as the card’s “Others” category.

The change is confirmed in Jupiter’s official Edge and Edge+ credit-card terms, which list the existing structure as applicable until 9 October and the revised structure as applicable from 10 October.

Importantly, spending exactly ₹15,000 is not enough. Jupiter’s terms repeatedly use “greater than INR 15,000”, meaning the threshold must be crossed.

The Extra 45% Will Be Credited Only After the Cycle Ends

Jupiter will credit 5% Jewels immediately on every eligible Shopping transaction. The remaining 45% will arrive at the end of the billing cycle only if qualified spends exceed ₹15,000. Otherwise, the deferred Jewels will be automatically cancelled and will not appear in the statement. This is conditional credit rather than a conventional clawback, since the extra Jewels are never awarded unless the threshold is met.

The card continues to have no annual fee. Its regular ₹999 joining fee is also currently waived under a limited-period offer. The October change does not introduce a new fee, but it materially weakens the card’s main benefit for occasional users.

What 50% Jewels Is Actually Worth

Jewels are reward points, not rupees, and their value depends on how they are redeemed. According to Jupiter’s official redemption table:

  • One Jewel is worth ₹0.20 when used for Jupiter Flights, Jupiter Store, brand vouchers or digital gold.

  • One Jewel is worth ₹0.14 when used for statement credit, bill payments or cash and cash-equivalent withdrawals.

That makes the effective return on every ₹100 of eligible Shopping spend:

Jewels earned

Value at ₹0.20 per Jewel

Value at ₹0.14 per Jewel

50 Jewels when the threshold is crossed

₹10, or 10%

₹7, or 7%

5 Jewels when the threshold is missed

₹1, or 1%

₹0.70, or 0.7%

Missing the threshold does not produce a small reduction. It cuts the number of Shopping Jewels earned by 90%.

Who Loses the Most

The existing Shopping caps are unchanged. At 50 Jewels per ₹100, the 1,000-Jewel transaction cap is reached on ₹2,000, the 3,000-Jewel merchant cap on ₹6,000 with one merchant, and the 10,000-Jewel category cap on ₹20,000 across eligible Shopping purchases. These limits overlap, so reaching the category maximum requires multiple transactions across multiple merchants.

The threshold therefore targets lighter users. Anyone earning the full 10,000-Jewel category cap will already have spent ₹20,000 and cleared it.

Consider ₹12,000 of eligible Shopping spend divided across at least six transactions and two merchants. Until 9 October, it earns 6,000 Jewels worth ₹1,200 at the ₹0.20 redemption rate. From 10 October, missing the threshold cuts that to 600 Jewels worth ₹120. That is ₹1,080 lost in one cycle, or ₹12,960 if repeated across a year.

What Counts Towards ₹15,000 Is Not Fully Defined

The terms refer to both “billing Statement cycle spends” and “total qualified spends”, but do not define what qualifies for this threshold. The wording suggests all reward-eligible card spending may count, not only purchases at the listed Shopping brands, but Jupiter provides no example confirming whether Travel and Others spending can be combined with Shopping spend. Users should not assume every transaction appearing on the statement will qualify.

How the Edge+ Reward Structure Has Changed in 2026

Following an adjustment to reward caps and travel benefits on 21 March, Jupiter overhauled the Edge+ rewards programme again on 1 June. The ₹15,000 spending condition taking effect on 10 October is another material change.

The June revision removed the option to receive rewards directly in rupees, discontinued accelerated rewards on the listed travel portals and introduced different Jewel values depending on the redemption method. The historical June comparison was also reported at the time by Mint Money; Jupiter’s current terms page does not retain a public revision history of the superseded table.

October adds a statement-cycle spending condition without changing the advertised 50% Jewel rate.

What Edge+ Cardholders Should Know

  • Edge+ rewards apply only to eligible UPI credit-card transactions made through the Jupiter app. Transactions made after linking the card to another UPI app do not earn Jewels.

  • Shopping eligibility depends on the merchant category code assigned by the merchant or card network, not only the merchant’s name.

  • Gift cards, utility payments, subscriptions and insurance premiums are excluded from Shopping. Jupiter’s broader exclusion list also awards no Jewels on fuel, government payments, rent, utility bills, wallet and prepaid loads, voucher purchases, cash advances, card payments and fees, or EMI transactions. Jupiter’s terms exclude gift-card transactions coded under MCC 5947 and separately list voucher purchases among non-rewarded spends. In practice, some gift-card purchases may still earn Jewels when processed under a merchant’s regular retail MCC. Such rewards depend on transaction coding and are not guaranteed.

  • If the minimum amount due is not paid, existing Jewels are locked for redemption and further Jewel earning is paused until the minimum due is paid in full.

As checked on 9 September, the Edge+ product page still advertises “50% Jewels on Shopping” without showing the ₹15,000 condition alongside it. Its calculator estimates annual Shopping savings of ₹24,000. That remains mathematically possible by earning 10,000 Jewels per cycle and redeeming them at ₹0.20 each, but now requires crossing the threshold in all 12 cycles while staying within the caps.

For cardholders who already cross the threshold each month, the core Shopping economics remain unchanged. For someone who uses Edge+ for an occasional Amazon or Flipkart purchase and little else, the maximum return on eligible Shopping spend falls to 1%, or 0.7% when the Jewels are redeemed as statement credit.
