CCGeeks Discover a Way to Double Amex Platinum Travel Benefits

CCGeeks Discover a Way to Double Amex Platinum Travel Benefits

CCGeeks have identified a method that allows some users to hold two American Express Platinum Travel Cards, effectively unlocking milestone rewards twice.

The Platinum Travel Card is popular among high spenders and offers 15,000 Membership Rewards points on ₹1.9 lakh spend, followed by 25,000 additional points and a ₹10,000 Taj voucher at ₹4 lakh, along with regular reward earnings.

As shared within ccgeek circles, the approach involves upgrading an existing MRCC, SmartEarn, or even a downgraded Platinum Reserve to a Platinum Travel Card, even when one Platinum Travel Card is already active. Since milestone tracking occurs per card, this can result in separate reward thresholds, allowing users to earn up to 128,000 MR points and ₹20,000 worth of Taj vouchers on a total spend of ₹8 lakh.

However, the strategy comes with trade-offs. Users may lose MRCC-specific benefits, incur additional annual fees, and face possible account-level scrutiny from Amex. While Amex customer care has confirmed that the upgrade is currently possible, there is no official assurance on its long-term acceptance.

Many users within the ccgeek community have confirmed successful upgrades, with two Platinum Travel Cards now visible in the American Express app under the same account, indicating that the process is currently working at a system level.

No card closures linked to this method have been reported so far. Still, ccgeeks advise proceeding cautiously, as American Express may review such cases and take corrective action, including card closures.
