Axis Bank is introducing a major new benefit for customers opening a Burgundy banking relationship. Effective 1 July 2026, eligible new Burgundy customers can receive either the Axis Bank Magnus or Axis Bank Horizon Credit Card with both the joining fee and annual fee completely waived.

Under the offer, customers opening a Burgundy Salary Account receive the Axis Bank Magnus Credit Card lifetime-free, while those opening a Burgundy Savings Account receive the Axis Bank Horizon Credit Card lifetime-free.

What is Axis Burgundy?

Axis Burgundy is Axis Bank's premium banking programme for affluent customers, offering dedicated relationship management, lifestyle privileges, wealth management services, and exclusive banking benefits.

Customers can qualify for Burgundy through either a Burgundy Salary Account or a Burgundy Savings Account.

Burgundy Salary Account

Designed for salaried professionals, this account provides Burgundy benefits to customers receiving a net monthly salary credit of ₹3 lakh or more into their Axis Bank Salary Account.

In addition to premium banking privileges, eligible customers opening a new Burgundy Salary Account from 1 July 2026 will receive the Axis Bank Magnus Credit Card on a lifetime-free basis.

Burgundy Savings Account

This account is intended for customers who qualify based on their banking relationship with Axis Bank rather than salary. At the time of writing, Burgundy eligibility generally requires meeting any one of the following criteria:

  • Average Monthly Balance (AMB) of ₹10 lakh or more

  • Total Relationship Value (TRV) of ₹30 lakh or more

  • Other eligibility criteria as prescribed by Axis Bank from time to time

Eligible customers opening a new Burgundy Savings Account from 1 July 2026 will receive the Axis Bank Horizon Credit Card on a lifetime-free basis.

Magnus Free With a Burgundy Salary Account

Customers opening a new Burgundy Salary Account become eligible for the Axis Bank Magnus Credit Card on a lifetime-free basis.

Magnus has long been one of Axis Bank's flagship premium travel credit cards, combining strong travel benefits with accelerated rewards and premium lifestyle privileges.

Key Highlights

  • Earn 12 EDGE REWARD Points per ₹200 on retail spends up to ₹1.5 lakh per month, increasing to 35 EDGE REWARD Points per ₹200 beyond that threshold.

  • Earn 60 EDGE REWARD Points per ₹200 on bookings made through the Axis Travel EDGE portal up to ₹2 lakh per month.

  • Unlimited domestic airport lounge access and unlimited international lounge access through Priority Pass.

  • 15% discount (up to ₹1,000) at over 4,000 restaurants via EazyDiner under the Axis Bank Dining Delights programme.

  • 2% forex markup, lower finance charges, zero cash withdrawal fee, and complimentary Credit Shield and purchase protection cover.

  • Redeem EDGE REWARD Points for travel, vouchers, merchandise, or transfer them to multiple airline and hotel loyalty programmes at 5:2 transfer ratio.

Ordinarily, the annual fee is waived only after ₹25 lakh of annual spending, making the lifetime-free offer significantly more attractive for Burgundy Salary customers.

Horizon Free With a Burgundy Savings Account

Customers opening a new Burgundy Savings Account become eligible for the Axis Bank Horizon Credit Card without paying either the joining or annual fee.

Horizon is Axis Bank's mid-premium travel rewards credit card, designed for customers who prefer earning transferable EDGE Miles without paying the higher annual fee associated with Magnus for Burgundy, making it an attractive option for customers who regularly redeem points with airline and hotel loyalty programmes.

Key Highlights

  • Earn 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on airline bookings and the Axis Travel EDGE portal.

  • Earn 2 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on all other eligible spends.

  • 15% dining discount (up to ₹500) through EazyDiner.

  • Up to 8 complimentary domestic airport lounge visits every calendar quarter (Visa Signature variant) or 6 visits per quarter (Mastercard World variant).

  • 8 complimentary international lounge visits every year (2 per quarter).

  • Transfer EDGE Miles to multiple airline and hotel partners, with 1 EDGE Mile = 1 partner point for most partners.

  • Complimentary fuel surcharge waiver on eligible fuel transactions.

For customers seeking a mid-premium travel credit card without recurring fees, the Horizon becomes an even more compelling proposition under this offer.

Only One Lifetime-Free Card

Axis Bank has placed an important restriction on the offer.

Customers are eligible for only one lifetime-free Axis Bank credit card under the Burgundy programme. Those who already hold an Axis Bank Select, Magnus, or Horizon Credit Card on a lifetime-free basis will generally not be eligible for another complimentary card under this offer.

The Upgrade Path to Magnus for Burgundy

The standard Magnus is different from Magnus for Burgundy (M4B), Axis Bank's premium rewards credit card that carries an annual fee of ₹30,000 + GST.

Magnus for Burgundy allows EDGE REWARD Points to be transferred to more than 20 airline and hotel loyalty programmes, generally at a 5:4 transfer ratio, making it one of the bank's most rewarding travel cards.

Because the standard Magnus is now available lifetime-free through a Burgundy Salary Account, some customers may view it as a stepping stone to M4B. The idea is to accumulate EDGE REWARD Points on the complimentary Magnus and later upgrade to Magnus for Burgundy, allowing those accumulated points to be transferred at the more favourable M4B transfer ratio.

However, applicants should approach this strategy with caution.

Axis Bank does not officially guarantee that reward points earned on the standard Magnus will continue to be transferable at the M4B conversion ratio after an upgrade. The bank may revise its reward programme, upgrade policies, or transfer rules at any time.

If your annual spending already justifies Magnus for Burgundy, applying for M4B directly is likely the safer long-term approach rather than relying on an upgrade path that could change in the future.

Customers must continue to satisfy the prevailing Burgundy eligibility criteria to become eligible for Magnus for Burgundy. Applicants should always verify the latest eligibility requirements with Axis Bank before planning an upgrade.

Also, try the M4B eligibility tool. Enter your monthly spends, tweak the numbers, and see if M4B makes sense for your spending pattern. It gives a much clearer picture than relying on assumptions.

Why This Matters

This is one of the most meaningful Burgundy banking benefits introduced by Axis Bank in recent years. By bundling premium travel credit cards with its flagship banking relationship, the bank significantly improves the value proposition for new Burgundy customers.

For Burgundy Salary customers, the lifetime-free Magnus removes the card's biggest drawback—its ₹12,500 annual fee. Meanwhile, Burgundy Savings customers receive a capable travel rewards card in Horizon without paying any recurring fee.

If you already qualify for a Burgundy relationship and were considering either card, this offer substantially improves their value. Just be cautious about planning around the Magnus-to-Magnus for Burgundy upgrade route, as the reward point transfer treatment could change in the future.
