Some stays are comfortable. Others feel distinctly elevated. Our New Year escape at Fairmont Singapore belonged firmly in the latter category.

From private balcony skyline views to an indulgent lunch at SKAI on the 70th floor, the experience combined location, sophistication, and thoughtful service into a seamless city retreat.

Here is a complete breakdown of our stay.

### An Address That Defines Convenience

Fairmont Singapore occupies one of the most strategic locations in the city. Positioned directly above City Hall MRT and seamlessly connected to Raffles City Shopping Centre, the property offers unmatched accessibility while maintaining an upscale atmosphere.

Arriving during peak New Year season can often test a hotel’s operational efficiency. Despite high occupancy, the check-in process remained composed and professional. The team handled the flow smoothly and maintained warmth throughout. The first impression was polished and reassuring, exactly what one expects from a luxury property in Singapore.

### The Room Experience: Space, Light, and a Private Balcony

We were upgraded from a Fairmont Room to a Deluxe Room, and the added space was immediately noticeable.

The design felt contemporary and refined, with clean architectural lines and abundant natural light. The defining feature, however, was the private balcony. This is a rare luxury in central Singapore.

The view offered a striking contrast. Below sat the expansive pool deck. In the distance, the Singapore skyline stretched across the horizon. Morning coffee and evening wind-down moments felt elevated simply because of this vantage point.

The bathroom mirrored the room’s sense of scale. It featured a generous layout, a soaking bathtub, and premium amenities. Everything felt thoughtfully curated.

As we were celebrating my wife’s birthday, the hotel arranged a celebratory cake in the room. It was a simple yet meaningful gesture that added a personal dimension to the stay.

### Dining: Access to Two Culinary Worlds

One of the distinct advantages of staying at Fairmont Singapore is shared restaurant access with Swissôtel. This effectively expands the culinary landscape without ever leaving the property.

**Breakfast**

We alternated between Prego and Asian Market Café. Peak season mornings naturally bring higher guest volumes, yet the spread remained extensive and well-executed.

For guests who prefer Indian cuisine, Asian Market Café offers a noticeably stronger selection compared to the other outlets. This is particularly valuable for Indian travellers seeking familiar flavours.

**SKAI on the 70th Floor**

Our final lunch at SKAI became one of the defining highlights of the stay.

Few venues in Singapore offer such commanding panoramic views. From this height, Marina Bay and the surrounding skyline unfold beneath you in dramatic fashion. The setting alone makes the experience memorable.

We redeemed our USD 100 hotel credit here and combined it with a 30 percent Accor Plus dining discount. When benefits are structured correctly, luxury dining becomes significantly more rewarding. This is where strategic booking truly enhances value.

### Wellness and Leisure Facilities

The wellness facilities, shared between Fairmont and Swissôtel, create an expansive relaxation environment rarely found in city hotels.

**The Pool**

The pool area is generous in size with clearly defined sections for adults and families. Despite the holiday crowd, it never felt overwhelming. We redeemed our welcome drink vouchers at the pool bar, which added a relaxed, resort-like touch to the afternoon.

**Fitness Centre**

The gym features modern equipment and is well maintained. It felt slightly compact considering it serves two large properties, but functionality was never compromised.

**Spa and Thermal Facilities**

The wellness centre was one of the strongest aspects of the stay. In addition to spa treatments, guests have access to a steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi. The changing rooms are spacious and well designed, contributing to a seamless and comfortable experience.

It is the kind of facility that allows you to properly unwind after a full day exploring the city.

### Checkout Experience

Our stay was nearly flawless until checkout.

We had requested a slight extension so that we could enjoy lunch at SKAI and charge it to the room. Although the request was initially approved, there was a minor operational mix-up and we were checked out earlier than planned. The balance was deducted from our deposit.

The charges were eventually reversed, and we were able to use Accor points for the stay. However, the final restaurant bill could not be added to the room folio. It was a small service lapse in an otherwise well-managed experience.

### Booking Strategy and Value

We secured this stay through a Fora advisor, which significantly enhanced the overall value proposition.

Would I return to Fairmont Singapore?

Absolutely.

The combination of central location, private balcony views, refined dining, and strong wellness facilities makes it a compelling choice in Singapore’s competitive luxury hotel landscape.

Minor checkout friction aside, the stay delivered an elevated city experience that blends convenience with comfort and understated sophistication.
