Hilton Honors Status Match 2026 is worth considering if you already have elite status with another hotel programme and upcoming paid Hilton stays. Once approved, you get Gold for 90 days. Complete 6 eligible nights to keep Gold, or 12 nights in total to reach Diamond, through 31 March 2028.

The timing matters more than the application itself. Start the challenge around travel you already need, rather than paying for extra nights just to earn a tier. Points bookings will not help you complete this challenge.

## How the 90-day challenge works

These are nights, so they can be spread across separate eligible stays. The Diamond target includes the nights used to retain Gold. Hilton says the trial starts when your application is approved; do not assume nights before approval will count.

## Who can apply, and what proof is needed?

Hilton’s [Help Centre](https://www.hilton.com/en-gb/help-center/hilton-honors-benefits/hilton-honors-status-match-benefit/) says applicants must currently be Base or Silver members and must not have enrolled in Status Match before. You need proof of current competing elite status and a stay with that programme within the last 24 months. Only programmes and statuses available in the application’s dropdown are eligible; holding any tier elsewhere does not guarantee approval.

The landing page accepts JPG screenshots of active status and recent reservations or a hotel receipt. Keep your name and membership number visible and redact other personal information. Hilton reserves the right to decline applications or request further proof.

There is a discrepancy on repeat eligibility. The Help Centre describes this as a once-only benefit for members who have not enrolled before. The landing-page terms instead say “B2B Status Match” can be used once per year. Until Hilton clarifies which route applies to you, a previous participant should check with Hilton before planning a repeat challenge.

Reward stays are explicitly excluded from the status-match challenge, even though reward nights can count towards ordinary annual elite qualification.

## What Gold and Diamond actually give you

Gold includes an 80% bonus on eligible Base Points and space-available room upgrades at participating brands. Its food benefit is complimentary continental breakfast at select brands outside the US, excluding Motto by Hilton. Select US brands, and Motto globally, offer a daily food and beverage credit instead. The benefit covers the member and up to one additional guest registered in the same room, subject to the relevant MyWay selection and brand rules.

Diamond adds Executive Lounge access where offered and raises the Base Points bonus to 100%. Upgrades remain subject to availability. CardExpert and Live From A Lounge reported that Amex India improved Hilton transfers to 2 Membership Rewards points for 3 Hilton Honors points from 18 August 2026. At that reported ratio:

## Fifth Night Free helps with a later points booking

Hilton Silver members and above receive the fifth night free on an eligible standard-room reward stay of five consecutive nights booked entirely with points. It does not apply to a cash booking or a Points & Money booking. Gold and Diamond members inherit this benefit.

That gives you a reason to compare a longer points booking with its cash price. It does not turn that reward stay into eligible nights for the status-match challenge. Hilton points are also subject to forfeiture after 24 months without qualifying activity, so avoid building an unused balance.
